This has been a busy month for book clubs! I recently had the pleasure of chatting with two groups, the Mid-Maryland Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma, who read MEGAN'S WAY, and a group from women New York, gathered by Lorena Sperber, who read CHASING AMANDA.
The MMAAKKG group is a local group. These women, all of different ages, are sorority sisters, all attended different chapters during different years. The sisterhood forged, and the bonds that have grown between these women is simply extraordinary. What a joy it was to see different generations drawn together for the love of their sorority, and grow the group into other areas of interest, such as reading. I was honored to be included in this group'sprivate discussion. Many thanks to Melissa Griggs Orndorff, for reaching out to me.
The second group that I met with, run by Lorena Sperber, contacted me by a trip of fate. Lorena was discussing her book club, and the book they had just chosen (CHASING AMANDA) with someone that she works with. That someone turned out to be my aunt. The small-world factor never fails to amaze me. I met with Lorena's group via Skype, and we laughed and had a wonderful time. These are insightful, gracious women, and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to join them.
There is no doubt that reading is fun, and even more enjoyable when you can discuss your likes and dislikes with a group of friends, men or women. Throw in a bottle of wine and a few treats, and voila - you've got a
party! If you are a member of a book club and would like me to chat with your group, drop me an email using my Contact form. I'd love to chat.
